Paula de Hollanda, together with musician Carolina Falkholt, gives an extra dimension to the scene. A new story is added to the room through the meeting place, body, object, movement, silence and sound.

Paula and Carolina starts in the mythology and tells a story. Just as the objects and stories in a museum is a commentary on who we are and where we we come from,  the myths and archetypes in mythology will tell something about us who are living today. The performance, Touching Stories, have been developed specifically to be played in museums and art galleries. The show is 10 minutes long and performed by a dancer and a musician.

What is typically Swedish? And where does it belong?
Marika Hedemyr goes on a journey in search of herself back to the time when she was 11, taking part in an international peace camp, dancing traditional Swedish Folk dance. Dressed in a national costume she represents Sweden. I denna ljuva is about belonging and about trying to identify with Sweden and whatever Sweden represents. However, her image in the rear view mirror doesn’t feel comfortable anymore.

Taking on folk dance, hymns and memories from her own history Marika Hedemyr is searching for the Swedishness. In the clash between then and now dissonance occurs. Her love of folk dance suddenly becomes problematic.
Composer and sound artist Paul Bothén has composed music especially for this piece.

On stage: Marika Hedemyr
Producer: Anna Tarschys
Length: 50 minutes, no intermission.

“Sometimes it seems like we will play golf for all eternity and then kind of just disappear.”
This quote from oncologist Carl-Johan Fürst clearly describes our uncomfortable relationship to sickness and death. After Rain does not attempt to look away from the truth and pretend that all is well, but rather seeks to arouse disquiet. It takes its inspiration from Omolu, a god from Afro-Brazilian mythology who rules over earth and death, and who both spreads and cures diseases. His strange gestures and patterns of movement reflect a life characterized by sickness and suffering.

Dance theatre by Marika Hedemyr. A lecturer is about to begin. Just before the overhead is switched on she has a vision and we are taken along on a journey through internal and external realities. On scene: an overhead, a folder, a graph and dancing across the stage and off the wall. A performance for everyone who has ever listened to, or held a presentation. Everything that happens below the surface in circumstances like these are portrayed with humour and dance. Once again choreographer Marika Hedemyr has taken and everyday situation, put it under the microscope and created a theatrical moment replete with humour and reflection. We get to see an overhead used like no overhead has ever been used before. Dancer Maria Mebius Schröder powerfully portrays a strict individual with a vivid imagination who is torn between her work and private life.

Everything is performed to suggestive music composed by Mike Lloyd. For further info about Crowd Company and Marika Hedemyr, please visit www.crowdcompany.com
